John Cleghorn, former Corona Police Chief

I met Baxter Miller soon after I moved to Corona in 1985. As the new police chief I attended almost every City Council meeting, and Baxter was often there in connection with his Landscape Architecture business or his interest in community activities. I also became aware of Baxter through his role as moderator of the cable TV show “One Voice With Baxter Miller.” He was an insightful and knowledgeable interviewer on every civic subject, and as I got to know Baxter I found him to be very personable and intelligent with a great sense of humor, inquisitive and supportive of the city and police department.

Through my role as police chief and our relationship over the years, I saw Baxter’s interest and participation in the city’s activities expand in several ways. He served as City Planning Commissioner, was a member of the Mayor’s Task Force, became president of the Corona Rotary Club and was president of the Corona Chamber of Commerce at a time when the chamber partnered with the city to attract new businesses and encourage local citizens to “Shop Corona.” He and his wife Debbie have been honored by the Chamber as its “Citizens of the Year”.

With all these activities, including the design of many of the city’s parks and his support of the Boy Scouts and other youth programs, Baxter gained a strong appreciation for the important role the police department, fire department and City Council plays as Corona grows and expands. He is keenly aware of the importance of public safety, and after a long career in police administration I have no hesitation in supporting his candidacy for City Council. He has Corona at heart, and brings a program of new ideas and designs.

Dick Haley, Corona Treasurer

Baxter and I have been friends for 20 years. We have worked together on projects with the Corona Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and six-plus years with the Boy Scouts. I have also known him as a planning commissioner and a member of the Mayor’s Task Force, and I regard him as one of the most sincere, honest and organized individuals I have ever known.

He and his wife, Debbie, work tirelessly on volunteer projects. They use a business approach, develop a vision and works towards that goal. Baxter will treat the city as a business, helping it run for the good of all without having a favorite department. There will be balance, so that all will be served in an equal and just manner. I am supportive of his candidacy and confident he will work for the good of the citizens, not the good of the city agencies.

Brigadier General Stan E. Brown, Ret., Founder and Chairman Riverside National Cemetery Monuments and Memorials Committee

I first met Baxter Miller in the 90s and he is a true patriot, not just in words but in deeds. One of our goals in ultimately gaining approval for a national cemetery in honor of our veterans was the construction of a series of monuments and memorials–to our Medal of Honor winners, Purple Heart winners, POWs and MIAs, and Native Americans, among others. It, is our hope that these monuments and memorials can serve as interactive tools for students to learn more about the wars of America and the people who fought for our country.

We have 1,000 acres overall and 45 burials a day, and none of what we are doing would be possible without the dedication of people like Baxter. He has been key to all of it, from the overall architecture to the design of many of the monuments and memorials. It hasn’t been done in isolation, but he is vital to it-from his creativity to his professionalism. I am aware of many of the business and civic roles he has served in Corona, and I am aware, through his dedication to our project, that he doesn’t just go 100% but 110%. He is active and productive and he brings a moral fiber, common sense and wonderful touch of humor that has served him well in all of these activities.

He and his wife, Debbie, are simply exceptional people, and I have no hesitation in supporting his candidacy for City Council. He will bring to the council all of the same attributes he has exhibited in helping turn our project into reality-fresh ideas, new designs, total dedication. I am behind him 100%.

Paula and Tom Munoz, Eagle Scout and Long time Scout Volunteers

We have worked with Baxter at the Temescal district level and through Scout Reach and Adventure Crew for five years and he has been a whirlwind, providing direction as a mentor and leader by example for economically deprived kids from six to 18. Baxter really believes in the community, and it’s our pleasure to support his candidacy for City Council.
